our annual clothing swap is back— an easy, intentional way to refresh your wardrobe while giving pieces a second life!
when: april 19th from 12 to 2 pm
how it works: bring 10–15 gently worn clothing items from your closet— pieces that are still in great condition but no longer feel like you. when you arrive, you’ll check in your items and receive tokens based on what you’ve brought. from there, you’ll browse the selection and “shop” using your tokens, trading what you’ve outgrown for something new-to-you. it’s part wardrobe reset, part treasure hunt.
you’re also welcome to bring accessories— jewelry, bags, scarves, and more. accessories will be placed in a shared area and are a free-for-all (no tokens needed), so feel free to take what speaks to you.
please note: any items not swapped must be taken back home with you at the end of the event.

the nia thomas sessa shirt is the shirt your partner is going to keep stealing from your closet. this unisex 100% thick soft cotton button up shirt has a luxurious weight and a functional patch pocket with mother of pearl shell buttons. hand crocheted by peruvian women whose families have been passing this craft down for generations.
the sessa shirt runs true to size. it is intended for an oversized menswear-inspired fit. model wears an xsmall. it is 100% tanguis cotton, and we recommend hand wash + lay flat to dry. to preserve the shape we recommend folding this piece and not hanging.
nia thomas basics are locally made in nyc’s garment district by a small female led garment factory. their knitwear is ethically-made in small batch in mexico and hong kong.

for generations, black artists from the american south have forged a unique art tradition. working in near isolation from established practices, they have created masterpieces in clay, driftwood, roots, soil, and recycled and cast-off objects that articulate america's painful past--the inhuman practice of enslavement, the cruel segregationist policies of the jim crow era and institutionalized racism. their works respond to issues ranging from economic inequality, oppression and social marginalization to sexuality, the influence of place and ancestral memory.
among the sculptures, paintings, reliefs and drawings included here--the majority from the souls grown deep foundation in atlanta--are works by thornton dial, lonnie holley, ronald lockett, hawkins bolden, bessie harvey, charles williams, mary t. smith, purvis young, mose tolliver, nellie nae rowe, mary lee bendolph, marlene bennett jones, martha jane pettway, loretta pettway and henry and georgia speller. also featured are the celebrated quiltmakers of gee's bend, alabama, and work from the neighboring communities of rehoboth and alberta.
